Reviews
A purpose built interactive aviation museum, which follows the inception of air travel in Canada to space expedition.
It's wheelchair accessible on both floors and has a washroom.
Recorded plane engine sounds can be found across the hall from entry and the Ghost plane's story of a 30 year expenditure makes the experience surreal.
It's a place kids would love to visit
Had an amazing time at the museum. We were a part of the guided tour and our guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. We also had the opportunity to enter a few of the aircraft on display. Most of the displayed exhibits are restored to its original condition and still work, at least that is what we were told. If you’re at the airport and have sometime to kill then I would recommend you visit this place.
We had a great time at this Museum, they have a lot of historical aircrafts, some that were built but never used, different types of engines for aircraft and a simulator that was used many years ago, it was nice to see history preserved like this. And if interested the also have a gift shop onsite
Lots of paid parking
Super impressed. In town for work. Had a spare afternoon so stopped by with one of the other instructors. Last time I was at this museum would of been 1999 I think. Theyve done such a good job here.
Had a great visit to the Royal Aviation Museum. I was there for about 2 hours and paid $5 for parking. The museum has 2 floors with lots of planes to view and even a retired Air Canada plane to walk through. There is also an activity place for kids to play and also a fee for younger kids to ride a pedal plane. The volunteers are very friendly and helpful.
This is a fantastic museum for anyone interested in aviation or mechanics in general.
I visited with my wife and two young children for about two hours on a Friday morning. I could’ve spent a bit longer at the museum, as there is a lot to see. They have lots of restored planes, artifacts, and very professional videos available for viewing. It was a bit long for the little ones—they had fun checking everything out, including exploring the two planes you’re able to enter, and spent some time playing on the playground, but they enjoyed their time there.
I felt we got good value for money. It was about $50 for our family of four to enter and another $5 for parking.
Highly recommend a visit to this beautiful facility.
An excellent museum that I was happy to find was walkable from Winnipeg airport, having arrived to find my flight was delayed. Time flew by reading about all the planes and Canada's unique history of flight. A particular highlight was talking to Bob (who at time of review volunteers on Tuesdays) about his experiences in the CF-104 Starfighter and other planes. If you happen to be there on a Tuesday, I would recommend seeking him out if you can. There is an area where you can listen in to air traffic control and watch as the planes take off from the nearby airport, as well as a kid's section teaching and demonstrating the principles of flight. All in all a very pleasant way to spend an afternoon – especially if you have some time to kill before a flight!
About a 10 minute walk from the airport, the museum has some pretty cool stuff like a salvaged wreck and decommissioned WWII era planes. The museum staff are also some of the nicest and most welcoming people ever, a big thank you to them.
